Challenge
Our task was to design a new responsive web presence for UGI Utilities, Inc., along with a visual identity that highlighted the company's unique value proposition. We worked closely with UGI's in-house marketing team to develop a roadmap for the project, and we used this roadmap to guide our development efforts.
One of the challenges we faced was that UGI is a large and complex company with a wide range of products and services. We needed to create a website that was easy to navigate and that would appeal to a variety of audiences. We also needed to make sure that the website was visually appealing and met proper WCAG standards.
Solution
Our engagement with UGI was successful in generating new business ventures for commercial warehouses and new UGI residential customers. The successful website audit also gave UGI a richer website that was both accessible and easy to navigate. UGI was awarded the JD Power award for best customer satisfaction in the utility website category.
Process
As part of a large-scale digital team made up of both internal and client-facing marketing professionals, my role was to serve as the experienced designer in tandem with my design lead responsible for numerous digital features requested by UGI Utilities, Inc.
Once we had a clear understanding of the requirements, we began the design phase. I worked closely with my team lead and UGI's marketing team to start the design/development phase.
In the end, we were able to deliver a new website that was responsive, user-friendly, and visually appealing. The website also includes a number of new features that make it easier for customers to manage their accounts, access information about UGI's services, and contact customer support.
Cost Saving Calculator
The Residential & Commercial Cost Savings Calculator is a simple, responsive tool that allows UGI customers to compare their current fuel source to natural gas and see the potential cost savings in real time. The calculator includes custom icon design throughout the stepped process to help customers understand their current home energy usage more effectively.
Accessible Style Guide
The team and I, developed a digital style guide that meets the standards of WCAG 2.0. Our teams goal was to ensure the website meet a accessibility rating of at least AA rating. The style guide focuses on spacing, typography, and a robust color system to improve user experience and maximize function for all of UGIβs customers.
Targeted Landing Pages
I led the design direction for multiple targeted landing pages that were part of a large marketing initiative to promote UGI's natural gas services to commercial customers throughout the state of Pennsylvania. These landing pages were designed to be specific to the needs of different commercial industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, and retail.
